Wateree Hydro Unit 5 Intake Head Gate - A Repair

Crowder supplied the manpower, barges, equipment, and owner-requested material to replace the new stems, gears, and materials for the guide rails and repair work on intake gate #5. Crowder performed all the disassembly/reassembly work.
Crowder teamed with Glenn Industrial Service for the underwater portion of this work for the rigging connections to lower the gate to the closed position so the repair work could be performed.
- Designed system for suspending U5 Gate A in place to facilitate rebuild of screw stem gear box
- System included attachment to gate below the surface of the water
- System included support at surface on deck for a jacking system to remove load from existing screws
- Provided complete engineering design, drawings, and equipment specified
