Stowe Regional Water Resource Recovery Facility (Progressive Design-Build)
Charlotte, NC
The Stowe Regional Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) is a regional approach to wastewater treatment, serving western Mecklenburg County and the Belmont and Mount Holly communities in eastern Gaston County, North Carolina. This new facility will initially have the treatment capacity to process 15 million gallons of wastewater per day, with future expansions to 25 MGD. The new plant will include all elements of the liquid treatment process, and it will be an advanced facility that includes sustainable treatment methods. Our design-build team is leading a collaborative process that considered life-cycle costs, LEED principles, the City’s Strategic Energy Action Plan, engages local MWSBE firms, minimizes impact to Charlotte Water’s customers and community stakeholders throughout construction, facilitates a seamless start-up, and ultimately results in a reliable, quality facility for Charlotte Water as well as a positive asset for the community. Upon completion, this facility will consolidate the three existing wastewater treatment plants into one state-of-the-art facility that will treat wastewater to a higher level than those currently in operation.
