The Cleveland Gear boxes were obsolete. Crowder teamed up with an engineering firm to find the latest gear boxes that could replace the original with minimum
modifications as possible.

Modifications to the existing frame were made to house the new gear boxes along with new mounting plates to anchor the gear boxes.

Crowder replaced all gear boxes, spur gears, shafts, shaft couplings, drive motors and drive motor couplings. The Hoist frames were modified to accept the new drive components.
