Plant Wansley Tainter Gate Replacement
Carrollton, Georgia
Crowder installed stop logs on the upstream side of 3 gates, removed 3 tainter gates and arm assemblies, and removed sections of the skin plate from the gates damaged over time. Crowder shop fabricated new skin plates from the section that was cut out, installed new skin plates, field welded them to the existing skin plate and gate frame, and installed all new seals on all three gates. One piece vulcanized the seal on both sides and bottom.
There was demolition to sections of the old spillway concrete construction joints. We placed new concrete to create new construction joints on the spillways and to seal the new joints. Gates were recoated, gates and arm assemblies were reinstalled, stop logs were removed, and the plant was returned to service.
