Catawba County Landfill RNG Facility
Newton, North Carolina
This is a 1500SCFM RNG facility taking Landfill Gas from the Catawba County Landfill. This project was built on an existing engine facility that required demolition prior to construction of the new facility. Crowder partnered with ICT to generate the design based off client selected equipment for processing of the gas. Crowder work included civil and foundation work, equipment setting, steel erection, piping, electrical, and instrumentation installation. This is the 6th RNG Facility that Crowder has constructed for this client.
Natural gas was not an option for the facility. Crowder had to work with the owner to come up with a solution to have a propane tank system at the location to provide the plant with its aux fuel requirements. This project falls under the IRA which placed new apprenticeship requirements for contractors working at the facility. Crowder worked internally on its apprenticeship program to make sure of overcoming the challenge of managing all the requirements and by working with subcontractors unfamiliar with the requirements of the project so metal building erection, HVAC, site stone and grading, fencing, and SCADA system work could be completed.
