Southside Wastewater Treatment Plant Rehabilitation (Design-Build)
Wilmington, NC
Crowder was selected as Design-Build Contractor for the Southside WWTP and was given Notice to Proceed for the design phase on March 20, 2017.The contract for the project was executed between Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) and Crowder. As Design-Builder, Crowder held the single point of responsibility and led collaboration and risk mitigation efforts to benefit the project. The project consisted of rehabilitation of the existing dewatering pre-engineered building, pump station upgrades, a new sludge storage canopy roof, installation of underdrain pump station and valve vault, piping and pipe testing, duct bank, clarifier repairs, and a significant amount of demolition.
Continuous collaboration from project start through completion enabled the team to deliver CFPUA’s required updates under budget and five months ahead of schedule. The completed rehabilitation measures provide CFPUA a means of continued operation and maintenance of the facility until a major expansion can be implemented in the future.
