Lynn Hansen Honored as a 2024 Construction Champion

03.04.2024

Lynn Hansen has been honored as a Construction Champion by leading industry publication, Construction Dive. This annual list recognizes the most inspiring women leaders throughout the commercial construction industry.

When asked why Lynn chooses to work in construction, this is how she answered:

“Construction is fascinating to me; Crowder is involved in building projects that we sometimes take for granted. The bridges we build allow people to travel to where they need to be every day, the water plants that we build supply water to our families and friends, the power facilities allow us to turn the lights on every morning. No project is exactly the same, and no issue is the same. I love getting up in the morning and doing my part to make sure that we build successful projects and ensuring that everyone in the company has the tools to do their job and understands that their individual job is just as or more important than mine. I am in awe of the people who can actually build these projects, the craftsmen and managers working out in the hot and cold every day deserve all the credit.

As I look back, I don’t think I chose construction, it chose me. Coming from the finance side, I had a lot to learn about construction operations, and I still have a lot to learn. Crowder gave me an opportunity to be a part of a great company in a great industry, working and learning from the best. From my first day at Crowder, I felt at home with the culture. It was a family culture, as is the case for many family-owned construction companies. Everyone grew up working together, leaders showing genuine interest and care for each employee and their families. At Crowder, every employee was valued and respected for their contribution to Crowder’s success and were given opportunities for learning and growth. This included listening and being open to differing opinions and working collaboratively to get to the best decision. I am a woman in construction and may look at things from a different perspective, that prospective has always been valued at Crowder and having diversity in thought throughout has made us better. I cannot stress enough how much the construction industry needs men, women, minorities, both young and old, to continue to innovate as we build projects in and for the future. In this industry there is always something new to learn or a new problem to help solve, and that is why I, and I think others, should choose construction.”

With an overwhelming response of over 400 nominations in the first two months of the year, the 2024 edition of the Construction Champions list showcases a diverse array of expertise, yet steadfast dedication demonstrated by the honorees who are shaping the industry's present and future.

"From rising stars to experienced mentors, this year’s Construction Champions capture just how much construction benefits from the wisdom and prowess of women across the board," said Jenn Goodman, Lead Editor of Construction Dive. "Our annual list is a testament to their achievements as well as unwavering commitment to break barriers for other women interested in construction career paths. They are truly role models."
